janeannpat replied: "My doctor said to take one every six hours, so four per day. But you shouldn't do it everyday."

mitch_111_11 replied: "my dr told me never to take extra strength - only take regular tylenol. Take 1, after an hour another if needed."

Phurface replied: "Don't ask us girl, ask your Dr!"

My3Boys replied: "Normal dosage instructions apply."

AbeLincolnParty replied: "Tylenol is converted to a toxic metabolite which is detoxified by glutathione. Once the glutathione is depleted the toxic metabolite starts attacking cells. The body can recharge its glutathione (mostly in the liver) but it takes time, that is why long term use is a problem. Asparagus contains an amino acid cysteine which is essential in this recharging process. Whether pregnant or not alcohol increases the toxicity of tylenol(acetaminophen). Facts and Comparisons states that continous long term high dose use in expectant mothers has lead to severe anemia in the mother and to kidney disease in the fetus. Three cases of cogential hip dislocation in infants have been associated with the use of tylenol(acetaminophen) Note: ethical restraints restrict clinical trials to test how high a dose of acetaminophen is safe."

Baby due May 27,2008 replied: "My doctor also told me to never to extra strength only to take regular Tylenol. And not unless you really need it."

what happens when you take too many tylenol extra strength? don't ask why, but over the past two days I took roughly 24 tylenol extra strength. again, don't ask why. just tell me what happens when you do.

kdscutie replied: "wow....uh... i dont think anything bad will hapen... maybe you should call your docter just in case..."

Nurse Lisa (soon) replied: "taking too much tylenol can greatly harm your livier because that is where the drug is metabolized when you ingest it, you should not take more than one or two every 12 hours depending on your weight."

Spenny R replied: "i know someone just recently who overdosed on tylenol and died because it caused an artery in their brain to clot and cause a stroke"

shelbel replied: "well first of all you might end up vomiting or dead. never take more then 4 every 6 hours. taking that much medicine everyday can result in internal damage. if they are not working go see your doctor for something stronger."

rx mel replied: "This is a little over the recommended dose (4gm in 24 hours). Each Tylenol Extra Strength has 500mg (0.5gm) of Tylenol so 24 Tylenol = 12 grams or about 3 days worth. Do not take any more for 24 hours. If you are young and healthy it will not mess you up, but if you have liver disease, are alcoholic, or are over 62 years old you can cause damage to your liver. The amount of liver damage from Tylenol overdose is related to how much has been taken and over what period of time. Going over the limit once in a while causes no damage but going over the limit frequently or taking way too much in a short period can seriously damage the liver. Most overdoses seen in hospital ER's today are from acetaminophen (Tylenol) and the results can be disastrous if not attended to immediately."

Michael K replied: "well, if you dont die...(i would get my stomach pumped) your body will basically become imune to anytype of over-the-counter pain killers. Its going to be very difficult to relieve a simple headache."

fivemgmorphine replied: "You will go into liver failure and die a slow painful death...Call 911 and get to an emergency room!"

Cindy M replied: "You can cause liver damage and also your blood pressure will go sky high due to the excessive caffeine. You could have a heart attack!"

Looksharp replied: "The max you can take in a day is 4grams which works out to be eight pills per 24 hours. If you take too much you risk harming you kidneys. I knew a girl who thought taking tylenol to kill herself would be a good idea. She lived and now needs a double kidney transplant. Be very cautious!!!!!! Cheers!"

How many extra strength tylenol would it take to kill yourself? I'm not elaborating I'm just curious. Answers please? 5' 8", Female, 125 pounds, fairly a lightweight, how much?

karen replied: "It will make you skinny because you'll will vomit a whole lot"

scarlettgrl12 replied: "r u tryin to kill urself???? BAD IDEA DEATH IS SCARY"

Pistons #1 fan replied: "It would take a lot, I know you say your not going to but if thats just an excuse for us to tell so you can do it, please dont! if u need to talk to someone write me an email"

Melanie L replied: "It's impossible. You will just end up in the hospital having your stomach pumped and scaring everyone around you and probably undergoing a lot of unwanted mental evaluations. Worse you could cause brain, organ or physical damage and have to live with it after."

jst4tdy1 replied: "The maximum toxic amount of tylenol is considered 4000mg daily You would have to take in excess of the maximum everyday for weeks. Even then, you would not die. You would burn up your liver and be miserably ill. This is not a reasonable way to overdose unless your just looking for attention. Secondly, I hope your not looking for a way to die, it's harder than you think because the body is a very resilient piece of equipment. If you are, nothing is worth giving up your life for. And I hope you find peace in your life. Sincerely..."

Lila replied: "You would get very sick to your stomach and it would all come back up. How many pain pills (extra strength tylenol, advil, etc.) would it take to kill/sicken you? NO I AM NOT GOING SUICIDAL!!!! ITS FOR A PROJECT!!!! I SWEAR!

ToxLabRat replied: "Well first of all, good to know about the latter part of your question. It depends on the medication. Tylenol is an analgesic. It is the most safe of all of the over the counter pain medicines. However, for people who have liver problems, or are heavy drinkers, or a family history of liver problems, then Tylenol is not a good medication to take, as it can be hard on the liver. Most people who do not have a compromised liver, that take too much of this medication (on purpose or accidentally) usually end up very sick, but in most cases they survive. However the damage done to thier liver is usually not fixable, so they may suffer from liver issues or in extreme cases end up needing a transplant after such an occurance. This takes a lot of Tylenol. I cannot give you an actual amount though because it differs for every person. Factors such as age, weight, health, other medications that the patient is taking, ect, have to be taken into account. As for Advil, this is a drug in a class called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The drug is Ibuprofen and some of the name brands are Advil and Motrin. Also, Aleive which is Naproxyn Sodium belongs to this class. These drugs along with asprin, can lead to bleeding stomach ulcers when used in excess. This usually occurs over a period of time, not just in one big dose. People take more than reccommended, or they take it for longer than reccommended, or they take it against medical advice. People with a predisposition or history of bleeding ulcers, stomach problems, or any other bleeding disorders are supposed to steer clear of these types of drugs. Again, it is difficult to say how much it would take to OD, the same factors as above apply. If this is for a project, why dont you come up with a few examples of patients and then I could probably give you more exact information. You will probably need something more solid for a project I would presume."

How many extra strength Tylenol can I take if I just took 1 Tylenol PM about an hour ago? I have a really bad toothache!!!!!!!!

Sasha replied: "umm, read the directions"

Mel replied: "Wait about 30 more mins, then take 1-2, but no more. I'd recommend perhaps taking some Advil or other Ibprofen, if you do not have an allergy to it. Both are pain killers but they use a different ingredient so it would not be overdosing. That's what the doctor has recommended to my fiance for migraines."

winter replied: "I take 2 Tylenol pm for lower back pain at bed time"

♥ADELAIDE.IS#1♥ replied: "Tylenol? Is than paracetamol? If so, I would drink water, it would probably do just as much good! If you have serious pain go to the chemist and get something with codeine in it, paracetamol is only for mild pain."

Is it safe to take tylenol sinus with tylenol extra strength? i took two extra strength tylenol sinus earlier and its not helping the headache, but the sore throat IS going away.. is it ok to take 2 tylenol extra strength to fend off the headache?

thejoker8301 replied: "you should call your local pharmacy and ask to speak directly with a pharmacist...they will advise you on any interactions and alternatives you can take...."

Chris A replied: "yes go ahead and take 650mg of tylenol if its been at least 4 hours after taking the sinus tylenol - but just remember to watch your total intake of tylenol - it should not exceed 4000mg in a 24 hour period and should not be taken at all if yu drink alcoholic beverages on a daily basis - check out the box for instructions - tylenol can cause liver disease"

How much extra strength Tylenol can you take a day while you are pregnant? I just had a wisdom tooth pulled and my doc told me to talk Tylenol. I got the ok to take extra strength because that is all I could find. But how much can I take a day. It takes the pain away for the most part for like 3-4 hours. But I can't go much longer than that without taking more because it hurts so bad.

Mara replied: "Read the directions on the bottle. I think it says take 1-2 every 4-6 hours."

Nicole P replied: "well tylenol is safe. but you shouldnt take more than the recommended dosage on the bottle. if you stay within that, youll be okay! :-)"

Tk replied: "Obviously dont take more than whats recommended on the box, but try to keep it down to a minimal. It's recommended to fight the pain if you can without taking anything while pregnant, but having a wisdom tooth pulled is a bit painful. So take "as needed" & dont over do it by taking more than whats recommended on the box."

preppygurl6911 replied: "your not supposed to take more than 4000 mgs a day, which would equal 8 extra strength tylenols"

Expecting our 1st in March! replied: "I was told by my doctor that I should take extra strength tylenol every 4 hours because of headaches."

freebird2183 replied: "I was told to take as directed from my doctor, and tylenol is usually the only thing doctors want you to take while pregnant so just follow the directions and you should be fine"

Angel Taviyn & Tanner due 4/5/09 replied: "u have to abide by the bottles rules , tylenol is safe for us , so we can take it as much as the bottle recommends"

Calijess replied: "My OB said no more than 2500 mg/day"

Is extra strength tylenol okay to take during pregnancy? I never even thought about the differnce and regular tylenol doesn't do anything for me and the horrible migraines i get. I've been taking extra strength my whole pregnancy. Is it okay? Or could I of harmed the baby?

Christi v replied: "My doc said it was okay..."

7 Days until my due date! replied: "It's fine!!! My obgyn said it was perfectly fine that I take Extra strength tylenol."

Lena N replied: "that question is really for your doctor. Only your doctor knows your health and the health of your baby. i've been told that you should only take 1 extra strength compared to 2 regular tylenols"

nikki_lynn_20 replied: "well this is only a question for your doctor to answer i don't see where it would hurt as i would only take 1 pill to try and cure the headache ( migraine ) as my doctor will not let me take anything extra strength but all doctors are different"

Can you take Extra Strength Tylenol when pregnant? I just found a few days ago that I am pregnant. The last few days I have had terrible headaches. I've been trying to tough it out and not take anything at all. However, now I'm tired of fighting it. I have extra strength Tylenol. Is that ok to take or does it have to be Regular?

Angel Girl replied: "it has to be regular. U might wanna ask ur doctor b4 taking any medicines"

*Twiztid Ninjette* replied: "Extra strength is fine, says my dr. I was ok'd 3 at a time,as long as I didn't go over the 8 a day limit, because of a bad head injury in the past where i get a lot of head pain,so extra strength is fine,it's even on my little sheet the dr gave me"

sarah jane replied: "My doctor gave me the ok to take extra strength Tylenol. Check with your doctor."

juls<3 replied: "my doctor told me yes."

Miss Lady *its a boy* DUE APRIL replied: "ididnt even know they still had regular. im 8 months preg & have been taking extra strenth. Doctor says its fine"

Eileen C *baby coming 08/29/09!* replied: "My mom took tylenol when I was in her womb. It didn't affect me. You should be fine, but still, ask your doctor. I hope you feel better. I get huge headaches, I drink water, that might help too. Good luck :)"

1st Baby due 6/26/09! replied: "Extra strength is fine, personally I take 1 pill instead of the 2 the dose calls for but that's just because I don't like to take anything that I don't have to."

Emma's Mommy replied: "You can take the extra strength. I asked my doctor because I had horrible headaches as well. Just take the recommended dose though no more."

Tea replied: "My doctors allow up to 2000 mg per day and Extra Strength is fine. I asked this same question 2 weeks ago!"

McQueen-amma in 5th week replied: "I HAVE THE SAME KINDA PBLM, but i dont take tablets even advisable ones, cos it might affect the baby. so mostly i tolerate the pain, if not i apply pain balm(Axe brand or tiger) inhale it and sleep fr a while."

Myles-James arrives 4/8/09!!!! replied: "Extra Strength Tylenol is fine to take during pregnancy. Just be sure NOT to take aspirin or Aleve."

Is it ok to take extra strength tylenol daily while pregnant ? I am 18 weeks pregnant and have had on-going headaches/migranes for weeks now. The doctor checked my pressure and everything is fine. I have been taking extra strength tylenol daily for about a week now sometimes twice in one day when it gets bad. I know that tylenol is safe but is daily ok ????

M Kerr RN L&D replied: "Completely safe!"

*Baby Boy Due in May* <3 replied: "Yes its ok"

ChristinS replied: "Take the minimal effective dosage. I know with migraines it can be rough I've had to deal with those also. A little trick that worked for me is to take your tylenol with a bit of caffeine. As long as you don't overdo caffeine it won't be harmful. For whatever reason I read this trick and tried it and it made the Tylenol much more effective for longer. Good luck!"

Carimel replied: "yes it's fine. And considering that's pretty much all that a pregnant woman can take....it's pretty normal for them to take tylenol every single day."

lara c replied: "as long as your taking it for the pain you have and not to prevent it i think it should be ok. doctors don't tell you to take it in moderation so i can't imagine taking it everyday would hurt you or the baby. good luck, hope you feel betterl."

Christina replied: "You shouldn't take it over 7 days or so. I have taken it some days in a row when I was sick. Also took Benadryl and Sudafed at the same time, per doctor's orders. It should be fine for a while."

amb replied: "yep its fine.. its best for you when you have food in your tummy.. just dont take more than the recommended dose at a time.. but it wont hurt the baby!"

Hero replied: "don't take twice a day of tylenol maybe your baby get seek okay! only one take it!"

katie r replied: "the least amount that does the trick"

Angelina replied: "My mom is a doctor, so I've always had the great luxury of getting an answer right away! This just happened to be one of my questions to her! She said that you can take the recommended dosage of extra strength. And if you don't have it, up to 1,000 milligrammes of regular Tylenol (which is the same thing as taking the extra strength). Daily is fine, acetaminophen is the safest pain reliever in general, not just for pregnant women. So go ahead and make that pain stop!! Congratulations, sweets, hope your headaches get better!"

Lukas replied: "I think its about your own choice really, but my girlfriend refused to take anything while pregnant with our daughter, even though she suffered through 3 abcesses and 2 throat infections, she just didn't want to risk anything happening to the baby, regardless of how safe it may or may not be. Try figuring out what is causing the migraines, is it coffee or chocolate maybe? Find out what it is and cut it out of your diet until you have the baby, also, try drinking more water, it helps with headaches. At the end of the day though, it is up to you... I'm just passing on my thoughts.."

Mitchie replied: "I found Tylenol not to be very effective at relieving my headaches. I now try the recommendations on this site first before I go for the medicine. Hope you feel better =) "

Crystal D replied: "I've been taking it daily for weeks b/c of constant headaches. My doctor told me it was ok as long as my blood pressure is ok, which it is. I take it sometimes 2 or 3 times a day b/c of the headaches."

Heather S replied: "My midwife actually said that there is Tylenol for Migraine but I haven't found it anywhere. She also said that drinking something with caffeine (in moderation) would help ease migraines, but if you get them every day that's maybe not a good tip. I get migraines at least once or twice a week, and when I feel one coming on, I sip a can of Mountain Dew (the little mini 8 oz cans) lay down in the dark and lay a warm rice sock on my head. It takes a while for it to go away this way, but it works."
